sakedrinking: (happiness and disaster)
So this will be my place to do some general musings on how VOCALOIDs, UTAU and androids in general from their universe might work, as well as some headcanon ideas. It will be long and rambly in places, and certain things will be starred to be applied ONLY for one game or the other (since Haku's schematics specifically function different in Castle in the Mist than they do in Digital Dive) so... this might only ever benefit me.

Key - * = Digital Dive only
** = Castle in the Mist only
Without further ado

Vocaloid Workings
  • VOCALOIDs and UTAUs past Miku Hatsune's creation date (this includes Miku herself as well as any of her knock offs) have automatic shut down features for certain types of damage to prevent permanent issues with hard drives and memory units. Head trauma generally results in a near automatic shut down, within seconds. Limb damage takes longer, up to six or seven hours depending on how long things go without repair. Torso and surrounding areas slightly less, at three to four. Anything longer and overheating occurs, which is one of the things the shut down attempts to prevent. It's similar to an impact system that a laptop has.
  • *This was a more recent upgrade to their bodies and systems.
  • VOCAOIDs starting with Kiyoteru Hiyama came with the added option of tiny imbedded solar panels in their arms. **Crypton adopted the technology from their sister company and began installing it on their own models in order to cut down on powering costs.
  • **Solar panel recharge time varies from unit to unit. Time of a full recharge depends on model and battery life. Haku takes roughly 18 hours to completely restore her battery life, versus about 10 hours of electric time recharge time. Back up battery takes about 5 hours, compared to 2 electric.
  • VOCALOIDs and UTAU can alternately recharge via sleep mode and consuming food. Recharge time takes much longer for sleep mode, and only minimal amounts can be regained via eating.
  • Haku's battery can last up to five days without a recharge, a week on backup, longer if she pushes herself with bouts of sleep and food.
  • **Haku's battery was swapped out for something smaller with the upgrade to the solar panels about a year previous, but unfortunately it only grants her three days without a recharge, five days on back up.
  • Sleep mode would take nearly a full week to recharge both batteries and is for all intents and purposes used mostly for tiny bits of recharge and not much else. It's simply against her best interest to have to sleep to fully recharge because of the length of time it takes.
