[Haku is sitting at her home office, looking rather tired. She's actually gotten sleep (at the insistence of her friends who noticed she went over a week without properly recharging) but she just woke up, which accounts for the messy state her hair is in and how groggy she still looks. There's a small stretch of silence from her before she finally decides what she wants to say.

She figures its better to not bring up all things things that are actually on her mind, and get to the point - she has an idea and she wants feedback as well as help.]

So... I've been doing a lot of side work. Keeping myself busy when Eikichi and Hanako are at school. [by which she means "unable to sleep because my mind won't shut up"]

I think... I have a way to improve automail prosthetic. Dart has been helping me out with blueprints and draw ups and all that, and we think there's a way to combine more modern technologies, including Vocaloid-type cybernetics, with automail bases and metals. The result - we hope - will be a lighter, easier moving prosthetic with a shorter healing time, the ability to reintroduce the sense of touch, and a synthetic skin cover to make it look like a real limb.

So far I've really only gotten arms worked out, and Sarasim has kindly agreed to become a test subject for a full shoulder-to-finger arm. The fact that she already has automail should make the procedure seamless, and if it works on her...

Well... I'm hoping that the next step can be giving the same thing to Quatre to replace the hands he lost.

For Quatre, though, we're going to need medical assistance. This entire thing is in its beta stages and even with Dart's nurse friend, Ana, we're still not 100% sure we've got everything proper and right for what Quatre needs. I haven't brought this up with him yet. I want to make sure it works on Sarasim, first.

And of course, the more we improve on this, the more I can make to assist anyone else who ever winds up in the situations, be it arms or legs.

Vent... I know I'm on suspension, but... I really want the chance to do this. I swear I won't do any other work if you let me. And I won't do it alone, either. I'll even let Ciel or some one else oversee the entire procedure.

So... I guess that's it... any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

[she reaches forward, hesitates a little, then shuts it off]

On that note, Would you like Roy and I to watch over Hanako for a while so you can focus on this? [Slight smile. ] I understand if not, but I thought it would be easier on you and your husband right now.

Maybe a little bit? I don't want to have this force me to take time away from my family, but she could probably use some one to watch her for a few hours after school every day.

I understand completely and it'll be no trouble for us at all. I know Elicia will be rather happy about it as well.

Those two are rather attached at the hip, aren't they? [chuckle warmly] I'm glad Hanako is making friend so quickly.

They are, aren't they? But they are cute. [Laughs.] Her father would be cooing at how cute they are together if he was still around.

And shoving pictures in everyone's faces.

He did that even when she wasn't here.

I miss him... but he'd be happy to know we're taking good care of Elicia.

That wouldn't surprise me one bit. [Short laugh. Oh Hughes. How she misses your picture shoving ways.]

Maybe Yggdrasil will bring him back one day. Hopefully. The Brigadier General would be thrilled that she's taken to swiftly to calling Roy 'Uncle', too.

Well Roy is very much Uncle to many of us. Its fitting, really. Alex and Maddie absolutely adore him.

Yea. He's good with kids. It's a good trait to have and it's admirable in him. [Unlike Riza woho still holds herself back, but she's getting better. Really.] I hope to be as half as good as him one day.

You're better than you give yourself credit for, Riza. Really. I wouldn't trust you as much as I do if that wasn't the case.

I simply do what I can to help. However I am able to. Speaking of, if you require any aid extra with this, simply ask and I will do what I am able.

I'll keep that in mind, but for now I think we're alright. We're still in the beginning stages of this anyway.

I think in this case, while I'm open to letting you help, it would be better if you took a back-seat on this.

Ciel is more than qualified for an operation like this, and of course DATS is willing to help. But in your case, you'd work best as her assistant rather than leading the project.

I know. That's what I was planning... I have a little more to do on the designs for Sarasim before its ready, but I was looking at getting her procedure done on Monday or Tuesday, if that's alright...

I can't say I understand much of the technology behind it...but I'm willing to try. I think regaining some of my touch might go a long way to helping improve my fighting abilities with that arm once more.

Thank you for letting me test it on you! There's no way we'd be able to do a full test run on Quatre - it would just be too much if there's things that need to be tweaked or fixed.

I'll warn you, having that sense back, even minimally might be a little bit shocking to your system at first.

I understand, the pain should be worth it in the long run I believe.

Just don't go right back in to training until you're sure you can handle it. Hitting things with that arm is going to be rather jarring at first. We may need to do several calibrations over the week to make sure we're not overdoing it.

I do not possess data regarding prostheses. However, I do possess repair data for my original body, which may possibly be adapted for use as prostheses. Technology transfer for the purpose of life-saving care is permitted, however I believe that the human term for technology transfer in this situation is "a gray area". Therefore, I must request that you refrain from sharing this data with individuals who are not directly involved with this project.

[Attached: Schematics of a robotic arm for a combat android that is centuries ahead of current Earth technology. It's obviously going to be too heavy for a normal human to use as-is. The highlights are the strong, durable, and extremely precise joints and "muscles" (which are almost certainly too heavy, but she might be able to use some of the concepts), and the fiber-optic wiring that lets it react faster than human nerves could give the commands. A few sections of the schematics have obviously been edited out, but the parts Haku would want to use are all there.]

I had expected that weight would be a limiting factor. Humans appear to be below the galactic average in terms of physical strength.

Both Quatre and Duo are stronger than they look, and Sarasim has had her automail, which is quite heavy on its own, for over a year. But... weight limits mobility no matter what when you're dealing with putting something unnatural on a natural body. The lighter, the better, in this case.

If you are in need of assistance, I possess medical knowledge that may prove helpful. Vhat is it you need?

Well... we have everything worked out for Sarasim. That's the easy part - she's already had automail for well over two years now. But Quatre... well...

Yes. I do understand that's going to take a lot of time for him to recover regardless of what we come up with.

I vill assist then. If ve can vork together, ve can create new prosthetic that vill do just that. Muscles damaged vere connector muscles. Attachment of new hands should be easier than if cut as made higher.

Alright... I'm doing Sarasim's transfer later this week. Seeing how she handles the full arm will go a long way to figuring out what we can and can't do for Quatre.
