I guess... originally Valentine's Day was supposed to be for couples, but like a lot of Western holidays it became really commercialized, so pretty much everyone gives gifts if they want to. But White Day was an entirely different holiday in Japan where girls gave gifts to guys. It's pretty much associated with Valentine's day now, though.
